August 2015

We braved the busy waters to canoe into Red Bull's Flug Tag, where we watched crazy people launch various crafts off of a high platform and yacht owners fend off tubers floating too near their hulls.

Summer movie night & Nauntie and Uncle Sean-Seans - love this big screen.
We dragged Sunny out of bed around midnight to go watch the shooting stars show in Hillsboro. She slept right through it.

The kitten cam tends to catch adorable moments.
Max installed a retro drinking fountain in the backyard, for thirsty trikers, swimmers and gardeners.
Sunny and I face painted while Max built a bike shed at our rental property.  I greeted several neighbors like this, but no one said a word - creative Portland!
The fireworks show to celebrate the opening of Tilikum Crossing (new ped/bike/mass transit bridge) was impressive.

A fun afternoon at Oak's Park - Grandpa and Sunny flipped upside down a few times on the cage ride, impressing and surprising their groupies.
Sunny made us lunch al fresco, all by herself: bread, chips and jam (for dipping).
Ready to launch (check out her rockets boosters)!

Monkey is growing fast, and the kittens are always happy to help with anything I'm trying to read.

Sailing Camp (via L'Etoile) was exhausting but fun - long hot days on the water sounded awesome to me! Sunny's swim test on Day 1 freaked her out. She was crying at first, feeling nervous reluctant to remove her life jacket to swim along the dock for the test.  Her little friends helped to encourage her, and then they jumped in (again) and swam by her side. Together, they completed the swim test.  Sunny was so thankful and proud of her friends!
Ania and Felix came and swam in our pool...hasn't popped yet...
Hmmm, a tomato collector in a wedding-gown - you don't see that every day.
At Swan Island Dahlias in Canby (confusing name, right?) - love those summery colors.

July 2015: The Lake, Matt & Christine's Wedding, Monkey & Family Fun

We kicked off our summer with a week at Lake Almanor, per tradition.  We biked, boated, tubed, hiked and ate really well (using Nauntie's "French technique" of no substitutions and no snacks).  Max, Sean and Kelly witnessed a super close lightning strike while we explored the Lassen wilderness.  I'd just pulled Sunny from wading in the lake and had her play under a picnic table when the storm came, since it seemed to be right on top of us!

We celebrated with the Boreings and the Munthers at Matt & Christine's wedding.  Jeff & Courtney hosted it at their home in Eugene - beautiful and fun! I played tag with the kids all night - probably ran 4 miles. .

We welcomed little Monkey to our home. She's fiesty, sweet, expressive and sharp!  It's like she and Panda knew they're sisters (they share a mom, Fern), and they were soon playing and curling up together for naps.

Sunny loved her horse camp at Lake Oswego Hunt - here she is with Sugar, her favorite mare. "Mama, I expected to get an American Paint, and I did!"
"Da moose, da moo-oose! Sitting in da wat-a. Eating his breakfuss..." a show in Canby.

We had tons of fun in the sun with Papa, Auntie Jessi, Uncle Josh, Uncle Scott and the cousins.  We got a huge pool for cheap from a neighbor - best summer purchase ever!
